Today, with limited warning, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy has dropped a song with Cheap Cuts titled ‘Check Your Phone’.
Many fans have been quick to point out it reminds them of the speeches Pete has often put at the end of fall out boy songs such as ‘Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying’ and ‘20 Dollar Nosebleed’ which I wholeheartedly agree with.
It has also been expressed that many are loving Pete taking a more headstrong vocal role instead of the anecdotes he has in Fall Out Boy videos.
I for one, am loving that so much creativity is coming out in such a negative time, and the song is definitely so poignant at such a current time, but I personally don’t believe I would listen to it too much of it was released outside of the quarantine.
The tune itself is extremely catchy but for me there is way too much repetition for my taste, however you will definitely remember the lyrics easily and I will definitely have it stuck in my head for the foreseeable future.
It reminds me a lot of Frank Iero’s old project DeathSpells which had a similar vibe to it, and like that one, you have to be in a specific mood to want to listen to it.
What do you think?
Have a listen to the song below and let us know!
