For those who follow our feed, you will have grasped that we like American Alternative band Drug Church; a lot. With that being said, we wanted to provide you with an insight as to what a DC show is like, and also a heads up to catch them when they are next in a city near you. Trust me, you won’t regret seeing them play.
‘To put it bluntly, seeing Drug Church live is like driving on a busy motorway, never a dull moment, and there is a chance of bumping into someone along the way.
Another good thing is whenever they are in the UK specifically, they play smaller venues, which I think is better for a more intimate and enjoyable experience. You also get that everyone in the room is there to watch the same band, and that really is a great thing about music gigs.
On this occasion, Drug Church were playing at The Southampton Joiners, and they were joined by Horseflies and Single Mothers.
After the crowd had been warmed up by the support bands, everyone was well and truly ready for Drug Church to grace the stage, and this was clear from the second they started playing. The crowd was lively from start to finish, and the mix of moshers, crowd surfers and the band giving it their all really did make the night so much more enjoyable. After supporting Boston Manor in the UK in 2018, a lot of fans were eager to see DC play again, and they certainly did not disappoint with their performance. Each track was energetic, high impact and fun, and by the end of the show, it really did feel like the band had made some kind of bond with the crowd.
Overall, Drug Church have to be one of the best bands in the Alternative scene currently, and I can’t wait to see what they get up to next.
